I would like to share with you a blog post that my good friend Pastor Bill Ivy wrote. As you read it, think of how your approach to your spouse or kids can make a difference in how they respond.
Have you ever tried to FORCE a person to change? I call it the bulldog approach. It does not persuade people very well. Bulldogs will drive people away and keep them away.
Why not start by respecting the other person’s idea. Letting them know that you understand their point of view. Then proceed to gradually build up your idea. Letting them know that you are interested in their welfare and if they can accept it, that you have something. The Apostle Paul was successful in using this method; “I am made all things to all men, that I might, by all means, save some.” 1 Corinthians 9:22
During his lifetime of ministry, Reverend William Branham helped millions of people change. He once made the following statement, “The first thing I had to do with that Divine gift, was win the hearts of the people. If I haven’t got their hearts, they wouldn’t listen.”
Doves are peace-loving birds. Next time you try to change someone, try using a dove like approach. Proceed from your heart to their heart.
